Oops, event overlap

Was bumming around on tumblr and came across the line, "Miruyumi week 2022, December 6th-13th"
"Oh bugger," I said to myself, because that's exactly when I'm planning to run Fuyumi Femslash Week. I said a few more culturally appropriate curses like "bollocks, anjing, cibai, pukimak," to make sure all my bases were covered, and then I calmed down.
This might have been avoided if I had run an interest check... but I simply didn't have the time, especially with my wrist injury limiting what I could do.
Honestly though, it's an understandable mistake, especially given that this is the first online event I've run. I did my homework trying to find out if there were other events during that time and I must have missed it; and nobody I ran the date by noticed or were aware, either. So I don't feel too guilty about it because I feel I put in my due diligence. Plus it's Fuyumi-centered and I have the nsfw/dead dove prompts so it's different enough.
It's just regrettable because a) there aren't that many f/f events going around, especially for specific ships - even more so compared to the glut of hyperspecific m/m events - and b) I don't want people (including me) to burn out making content for too many events.
I don't have the time or energy to mess around changing the dates, especially because I'm doing a lot of the graphics in addition to promo/etc. What I will do is extend the duration I'm monitoring the account - up to a month - so people can participate in both if they want to can still do so with less time pressure.
And it can't be more crammed than September was, what with the wlw bang, valkyries and various zine deadlines. Which was wonderful, but also a lot!

Date: 2022-09-21 12:46 pm (UTC)Tbh that Miruyumi week I think might only be on tumblr? I think it happens every year so it's 'established' but is severely under-advertised, so it's understandable that u would miss it. I did it last year but they didn't announce they were running again this year until... one day after u posted on the Fuyumi Femslash Week twitter 🤔 (This is all guessing but perhaps someone forgot that they do this each year until they saw another Fuyumi event and went like "wait I have one of those")
Ultimately my 'hack' to deal is to potentially try and combine things, like do one or two Fuyumi/Miruko pieces for ur week that can double as pieces for the MiruYumi week. I definitely do have a fear of burnout (this September is uhhhh CROWDED to say the least, im still catching up on Valkyries and still have to finish drawing/writing for the WLW Bang... I can't imagine how u must have been stressing with zine stuff on top of that).
But again: The MiruYumi week seems tumblr-focused and underadvertised, I have a feeling that the active twitter-sphere will be unaware and likely will not participate (unless maybe they have a tumblr). So across all participants I think it's a much less risky burnout situation.
For me... I want to participate in both, I think for me that will mean some more planning ahead (September I TRIED to plan ahead, but then I had various things events in June/July/August that kept demanding my attention, so I'd work on those more 'urgent' things before working on the 'less urgent' September stuff, and then September came along with some IRL work stress and it was ACK all due at once). But those MiruYumi prompts are already out, so in theory I can chug away at them starting in October probably. I've put a stop on myself like "NO u are not allowed to join any new events" so hopefully I won't be prevented from working ahead due to more 'urgent' things this time.
I am very excited for the Fuyumi Femslash week, I think it's nicely specific but also room for broadness/variety, and tbh in terms of numbers currently I think Fuyumi was tagged the most out of any character in the Valkyries AO3 collection so there's clearly interest in her. I adore Miruko/Fuyumi, but I also like her with others on occasion, so it'll be fun to have a low-stress way to explore different pairings, especially in the NSFW department (which the MiruYumi event does not accommodate). And if u make it clear that delayed postings throughout December will be accepted, I think that'll also help allow ppl to spread if they need to. Thanks for running it, and good luck!

Date: 2022-09-22 04:05 pm (UTC)September has been so full, the fear of burnout is real, I'm also hitting myself with the "no more events!" bat at any given moment XD
I noticed there was a lot of Fuyumi, was not expecting her to beat Ochako and she was a hair away from beating Momo?? Gutted, but proud of her, lol. Interesting that she's the most tagged/up there, I'm glad to see it and look forward to seeing what people do with a Fuyumi focused event. Definitely going to clearly message that late posting will be accepted throughout December and that double posting will be totally fine, too. And thanks, I'm sure it'll go great!
